Description:
Waqas Hassan completed Bachelor’s (Honours) and Master’s degrees from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Sydney, NSW, Australia, all in Electrical Engineering with a focus on electrical power, energy and control systems with exceptional academic standings, in 2006, 2014, and 2020, respectively. He has taught, conducted tutorials and laboratory sessions of several undergraduate and postgraduate courses from diverse domains, including circuit theory, programming in C, electronics devices, electronics design, linear systems and controls, embedded system design, power systems, and power electronics. His research interest is to design and develop power electronics converter topologies and control techniques for various applications, particularly DC nanogrids and microgrids, integrating renewable energies and energy storage into the grid, and improving the efficiency and reliability of power electronics systems. Waqas is a recipient of prestigious scholarships and distinguished awards. He was awarded a Sir Syed Gold Medal for outstanding performance in the Master’s degree. He is the winner of the eminent National Engineering Robotics Contest (NERC) 2009. His recent research work has been featured by IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, USA, and IET Renewable Power Generation, UK. He is a reviewer for IEEE Transactions and IET journals, and IEEE international conferences.
